*Giveaway* Brownie Lottie Doll

So you may have read recently that we’re part of the Lottie Brownie Blogger Pack – and with that comes the opportunity to give a Brownie Lottie Doll away!
Brownie Lottie Giveaway

The Brownie Lottie Doll has been travelling with us. We’re back from Cornwall where she had a great time. She came with us to a few places, though there were some times it was best to leave her at home.

What can I say about the Brownie Lottie Doll? She’s pocket-sized, (although on more than one occasion we’d hear “is this your daughter’s dolly?” when she had fallen out) so maybe front pouch sized!

Brownie Lottie outdoors

She comes with a hoody, a scarf and elasticated woggle and there’s a load of accessories available too which we don’t yet have. One thing I really like is that Lottie’s shoes stay on. Brownie Lottie’s shoes don’t come off easily too, which is definitely worth pointing out.

The Brownie Lottie has a cool trefoil print on her t-shirt too. Lottie has knees that bend and arms that can be posed. If you’re good at balance you can get her to stand on her own too, which H enjoys doing. She also has hair you can plait!

Brownie Lottie box WAGGGS

Brownie Lottie is a Branksea Island Brownie, and is Girl Guide Association approved.

Here are some of the adventures she has been having…

Our holiday was at Coombe Mill. We decided it was probably for the best that Brownie Lottie didn’t help feed the animals!

Brownie Lottie at Coombe Mill

We did some exploring outside. She was pretty good at that.

Brownie Lottie Map reading

You can see her tucked into H’s pocket as she practises flying at Dyrham Park. Amazingly, this is one of the times she didn’t fall out! (I would insist your child holds on to Lottie at all times because of this)

Lottie in pocket

Doing some of the trails at Dyrham Park as well – you can see beautiful carved wood trees that you had to find. We also took her to Hidden Valley.

Brownie Lottie Sherlock Holmes Trail at Hidden Valley

So after sharing all these adventures Lottie has had (she is now safely back at home and hanging out with our football Lottie again), we thought you’d like to try and win one for yourself. So here’s our first giveaway in a while. We love Lottie Dolls. We love there is now a Brownie Lottie doll.

You can buy the Brownie Lottie Doll here.

The winner will receive a Brownie Lottie Doll.  The giveaway finishes on the 28th August. Good luck!

Miffy’s Adventures Come to Tiny Pop!

This Friday, Miffy is going to be on Tiny Pop – a new programme Miffy’s Adventures – Big and Small starts! We’ve got some information about it plus a lovely giveaway for you.

Miffy's Adventures Big and Small on Tiny Pop

Miffy’s Adventures – Big and Small comes to Tiny Pop on the 2nd October 2015 at 7pm which consists of fifty two episodes, all of them seven minutes long. This series is an animated sequel to Miffy and Friends which was on tv from 2003 onwards.

Tiny Pop is a digital channel, which has a fine selection of kids programmes. We’ve spent many afternoons watching Meg and Mog on there – and now Miffy is the latest to join the channel.

Miffy's Adventures Big and Small on Tiny Pop

Miffy’s Adventures – Big and Small features Miffy (of course) as well as her friends Snuffy, Grunty and Melanie who all feature in Dick Bruna’s books. This new series also marks the first time Miffy has been seen in CGI.

Miffy’s Adventures – Big and Small features simple dialogue, and consists of stories about the world around her, designed to keep even the smallest children engaged.

Miffy's Adventures Big and Small on Tiny Pop

The episodes keep the bright primary colours that Dick Bruna uses in the books, bringing the characters to life and bringing a new generation of youngsters into the world of Miffy.

Quite frankly, I think the more children that grow up loving Miffy, the better!

Miffy’s Adventures – Big and Small will become a key part of Tiny Pop’s evening block, Cuddle Time, which features gentle programming allowing kids, mums and dads to enjoy calmer, quieter time around bedtime. Tiny Pop has the strongest evening viewing figures in the kids’ category, from 7pm-midnight and will broadcast Mike the Knight, My Little Pony and Miffy from October as part of their autumn schedule.

We’ve seen some preview episodes, and they’re lovely – and very much in keeping with the spirit of Dick Bruna’s books. They’re definitely set to be a favourite for children!

Sensory Miffy Giveaway

As well as this, we’ve got a giveaway! How do you fancy winning a Sensory Miffy Toy? Suitable for children aged 6 months and up, this toy has several areas which it can identify on the body, and is a great fun toy for little ones. We’ve got one to give away, and all I need you to do is answer a simple question. Who is your favourite Miffy character?

Terms & conditions – UK entrants only please. This giveaway finishes on the 9th October 2015. The prize will be sent direct from Miffy’s PR company in the UK. Good luck!

Canvas Design Giveaway!

Canvas Design were looking for bloggers to review their canvas prints, and I’m never one to turn down the chance to try a canvas!

Canvas Design are based in Darwen, Lancashire and after having emailed a photo to them, two days later Interlink Express had delivered it. The photo was taken back in October on my phone – a silhouette I love of Shaun and H standing in the wind at Chesil Beach near Weymouth.

Canvas Design

I was impressed with the quality – the canvas also includes everything you need to hang it on the wall. I received the 22×26 size which looks lovely on our wall – see?

That’s not all though – Canvas Design are offering a print as a giveaway at Mum Friendly! The giveaway is open to UK Residents only and you can choose from any size canvas from 6×6 to 40×40 inches, with any picture you’d like. Here’s what you get:

  • 38mm deep pine frames sourced from renewable European forests.
  • Canvas frames include corner wedges for tension.

The Higgidy Cookbook

Quercus Books have just published The Higgidy Cookbook by Camilla Stephens. I bought it the day it came out and have drooled over the pages since. Now you’ve got a chance to do the same as I have a copy to give away.

The Higgidy Cookbook is full of recipes – 100 to be precise – for pies and so much more. While a few of the pies and tarts don’t have visuals, there’s a lot of end pictures in there – and where I’ve loved previous cookbooks for breaking down each process, for this one all you truly need to know is how to make a good pastry and a good filling and have the right guidance. This book does all that.

The Higgidy Cookbook is broken into sections – Simple Suppers, Party Pies, Quirky Quiches and Tempting Tarts, Pudding Pies and Sweet Treats, and Easy Extras & Perfect Pastry. On the last chapter we may have mistaken some Sticky Onions for Portugese Custard Tarts – they look pretty similar! (though obviously taste different)

Being one who doesn’t like to wait, tonight I decided to try one of the pies – the Strawberry and Apricot Freeform Tart – which starts with the most tempting of sentences:  ‘This is a great recipe for novice bakers and enthusiasts alike’ – plus it looks pretty awesome too.

The Higgidy Cookbook

Being as weight-conscious (and cost-conscious) as I am, I bought Sainsburys Basics strawberries (two packs, £1.50 each), a tin of Apricots (£1ish?) and added some dried ones. I still didn’t have enough fruit to make up the 500g I needed, so added two pears which worked.

Essentially, you make your pastry, leave it to chill for thirty minutes then roll out and put into a dish, bake for 45-50 minutes and voila, you have your dish.

I found the instructions really clear and simple to follow. We were missing one ingredient (cornflour) and I didn’t substitute with anything else which left the tart oozing with juice but not ruined which was a relief. H says “it’s the best tart ever” and Shaun thinks “it’s pretty awesome”. Me? I’m quite pleased it wasn’t a disaster in any way! The pastry was crispy and well cooked, the fruit warm and tangy. The best bit? You can use fruit which is going a bit soft for this too!

I was offered a chance to review The Higgidy Cookbook, but as I intended to anyway and bought it, I am instead offering the copy as a giveaway. Answer one simple question, then there’s a few additional things you can do via Rafflecopter to gain some extra entries. UK residents only please, and the closing date is two weeks today, the 8th October 2013.

All entries will be checked to make sure the rules were followed, as it’s unfair to say you’ve commented and to not leave one, and one winner will be sent a copy of The Higgidy Cookbook from the PR company. Good luck!
